Barro, azulejo & farol.
Three Andalusian crafts, made in small batches by independent potters, painters and metalworkers.
Named after a city of courtyards.
Cordova is the old English spelling of Córdoba. The city gave the world cordovan leather and the striped arches of the Mezquita, and every spring its patios overflow with flowers. We started Cordova Decor to bring a little of that warmth into homes far from Andalucía.
Every piece is made in small batches by independent makers. Nothing is mass-produced, and no two pots or tiles come out exactly alike.
- BBarro: the potter's clayHand-thrown on the wheel, then fired in wood kilns for that warm, uneven blush.
- AAzulejo: the painted tileEach tile is outlined and filled by hand with glaze before a second firing.
- FFarol: the brass lanternBrass sheet is hand-pierced with hundreds of tiny holes, so the light falls as lace.
Made to weather.
A little care keeps terracotta, tiles and brass looking their best for years.
Terracotta
Unglazed clay breathes, so it can bloom white with minerals. Wipe with a damp cloth, and bring pots indoors before frost.
Painted tiles
Clean with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh scrubbing pads, which can dull the hand-painted glaze.
Brass lanterns
Brass darkens naturally over time. Leave it to age, or polish gently with a soft cloth to bring back the shine.
